Career Dual Enrollment is like a cool shortcut for high school students in Polk County, and guess what? It's all free of charge! This means you can take certain classes that count for both high school and college at the same time without paying a dime. Plus, you get to learn real job skills that can help you land a job or get ahead in college.

Imagine getting a head start on college or even starting your career while you're still in high school, without worrying about the cost. That's what this program is all about. You can pick from lots of different job paths, like becoming a phlebotomist, a welder, a tech whiz, or learning a trade like electrician or chef, and it won’t cost you or your family anything.

Here's the deal: If you're doing well in school and you're up for a bit of a challenge, you can apply. You'll need to keep up certain grades, get a thumbs-up from your school, and possibly pass the CASAS Assessment.

In short, Career Dual Enrollment is a great way for Polk County high school students to get a jump on college and careers, making the most of high school time by gaining both school credits and hands-on experiences, completely free of charge!

Dual Enrollment Eligibility

Be in 11th or 12th Grade: This program is open to juniors and seniors in high school. So, if you're gearing up to begin, or are already navigating through, your junior year, you're in the right spot.

Have at Least a 2.0 Unweighted GPA: Your grades matter here. You'll need a 2.0 GPA without any extra weight from honors or AP classes. It shows you're ready to handle both high school and college-level work.

Take the CASAS Assessment: This is a test to see if you're ready for the dual enrollment courses. It checks out your basic skills to make sure you can succeed in the program.

Have Room in Your High School Schedule: You need to be able to fit these college courses into your schedule and finish them before you graduate from high school. Planning is key!
