CASAS placement test

Placement Testing - CASAS for ESOL or CASAS GOALS for GED class placement

The CASAS placement test is designed to measure skills in reading and listening for English language learners, and in Reading and Math for the GED preparation classes. It covers various skill levels from beginner to advanced adult post-secondary. CASAS satisfies a wide range of audiences, including ESOL programs, and Adult Basic Education, GED classes, or Career programs.

The CASAS test is administered at all of our adult school campuses. This is an online, computer-based test. Paper tests are available upon prior approval from administration.

T.A.B.E. for GED class placement was changed to the CASAS GOALS placement test. This is also used by Ridge Technical College to measure skill knowledge levels. If you graduated with a GED diploma in the past 2 years, you do not have to take the placement test; just bring your transcript and diploma for proof.

If you graduated with a standard diploma 2007 or later, you need to show your diploma in order to bypass the placement testing.
